Stan Jarvis, who died last week (08/05/2014), bred Tzigane, by former White Robe Lodge sire, Tawfiq.

Mr Jarvis served as treasurer  of the Otago Racing Club alongside White Robe principal, Brian Anderton  on the committee.
"Stan was a very able man on the committee,'' said Brian.

Mr Jarvis also raced Beau Geste, who won 13 races including the 1991 Great Western  and  1989 Otago Hurdles when trained by Jack Gordon at Invercargill.

Mr Jarvis was  the former manager of Foodstuffs (Otago - Southland) Ltd,  the co-operative  involved with New World and Four Square supermarkets.

Tzigane (foaled in 1987) won seven races when trained by "Snooky" Cowan at Washdyke. She was  was out of the Ribotlight mare Colma.

Mr Jarvis gifted Tzigane to Cowan and wife, Tracey when  she was retired.  Tzigane left  the winners, Tzicowan, Jarvis, Ribot Legend (Hong Kong) and Heathcote and Hiking (Korea) from five foals.

Jarvis was sold to Korea and he was the leading international horse there when he  won 10 races in a season.
