Yamanin Vital, who stood at White Robe Lodge, died five years ago but his legacy lives on with Flying Elite a winner in Hong Kong  on Wednesday night (07/05/14).

Flying Elite, a 5yr-old gelding  won over 1650m at Happy Valley, his fifth win. He was bred by Brian and Lorraine Anderton from the Australian-bred mare, Bright Blue (by Scenic), now deceased.

Yamanin Vital was put down in October, 2009 after an obstruction of his bowel.

He was 19.

The son of Sir Tristram-She Might Hula was imported  in 1997 after he had won five races in Japan. He won over 2000m in 1.59.6.

Yamanin Vital has sired the group one winners Who Shot Thebarman (2014 Auckland Cup), Herculian Prince (2010 Metropolitan Handicap at Randwick), Cluden Creek (2004 Wellington Cup) and Cut The Cake (2003 NZ Derby).

Others sired by Yamanin Vital include Trebla (NZ Cup and Canterbury Gold Cup), Requisite (Eclipse Stakes at Moonee Valley), Rosa Marada (Belle Of The Turf Stakes at Gosford), Inferno (Canterbury Gold Cup twice),  Hypnotize (Great Northern Steeplechase in 2007, 08 and 10) and the Grand National Hurdle winners, Counter Punch and Yourtheman.
