Koxinga provides star turn
The Gallant Guru gelding Koxinga provided a star turn at Winton on Sunday (11/10/2015) with his last to first win over 1400m. Koxinga, who was having his first race for seven months has now won three of his five starts for Gore owner-trainer Wayne Humphries.
Sally Getcha Gun continued the success for owner-trainer-breeder, Kelly Thompson with horses by White Robe Lodge sires when Sally Getcha Gun cleared maiden ranks at Winton. The 5yr-old mare is by the deceased Danzighill from Megun and a half sister to Gunna Go and Gun Fighter. Gunna Go, a Yamanin Vital mare won five races and Gun Fighter (by Personal Escort) won two. Thompson and his wife, Isla have sent Thymes Vital to the first season WR sire, Ghebellines. The Yamanin Vital mare has won three races.
Dr Sykes, a son of the WR matron, Perceptible, won a $A22,000 1600m race at Kembla Grange on Saturday. Dr Sykes (by 2006 Epsom Derby winner Sir Percy) is trained by Les Bridge at Randwick.
Quartet and Gallant Defender were WR-trained winners of barrier trials at Wingatui on Tuesday. Quartet had won a trial there on September 28. The maiden Gallant Defender was runner up in two of his four starts as 3yr-old last season.
