Quality draft for South Island Sale
A half brother to listed race winners in Australia; a filly bred on the same cross as Include and a half brother by Raise The Flag to Valiant are among nine yearlings from White Robe Lodge entered for the New Zealand Bloodstock South Island sale in Christchurch at April 17.
A colt by Raise The Flag out of Anna is a half brother to Requisite (Eclipse Stakes at Moonee Valley) and Rosa Marada (Belle Of The Turf Stakes at Gosford). They are among five winners left by his dam.
The filly bred on the Gallant Guru - O'Reilly mare cross of Include is by Gallant Guru from On The Make and thus a half sister to On The Take, who has won five races. Include has won the listed Dunedin and Southland Guineas and South Island Breeders' Stakes. She has won 10 of her 16 starts and finished a creditable sixth in the group one NZ Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes. She finished 4.1 lengths from the winner, Diademe, who lowered a 24 year old track record. Valiant(Gallant Guru - Enzed) won eight races before his untimely death in February, 2015. Enzed has also left two time- winner Heroic Guru, who has been placed in Hong Kong.
Gallant Guru has sired 25 individual winner of 47 races in NZ this season and his daughter, Too Cool To Fool has won three races to 2600m in Adelaide. Raise The Flag, the son of Sadler's Wells -Hasili, has left winners this season with his first crop three-year-olds. Raise The Flag is also represented in the WR draft by a filly from Notable, a three quarter sister to Blood Brotha, winner of two New Zealand Cups (3200m) and a Wellington Cup. It is a family brimming with black type winners. A colt by Gallant Guru out of Megagem in the draft is a brother to Akal, a winner this season. Megagem is a half sister to Unfurl, the Raise The Flag filly, who won $15,000 16000m maiden at Stawell on Sunday (5/4/2015) after placings in her other two starts. Unfurl is the seventh winner from nine foals to race out of Emerald Fire, the dam of listed race winner, Inferno and Ortem Fire and stakes placed, Ronnie. Unfurl was a $40,000 purchase by John Foote Bloodstock and Ballarat trainer, Darren Weir as a 2yr-old at the SI sale. A colt by Raise The Flag from Rubiette on offer is a half brother to High Forty, a winner on the flat and over fences.
