Continued success
Flag The Groom, a 3yr-old gelding by White Robe Lodge sire, Raise The Flag , added to a long list of winners for Omakau breeders, Bevan and Robyn Wilson with success at Washdyke on May 15. The Wilsons have bred and raced Nearly Pal's(1996 White Robe Lodge Handicap, Timaru Cup and two North Canterbury Cups), Bashful Lady (1996 Thames Gold Cup), Royal Miss (2005 South Island Filly of the Year) and Madam Victoria (2014 Warstep Stakes and FOTY).
Nearly Pal's and Bashful Lady were out of Regal Splendour, by Noble Bijou, the champion WRL sire. Madam Victoria is out of Royal Miss, a daughter of Bashful Lady.
Flag The Groom is the first foal the Wilsons bred from Groom Thee, an unraced Groom Dancer mare they had on loan from the Dennis brothers for whom she has produced three foals. The next two foals out of Groom Thee (both by Raise The Flag) bred by the Wilsons died. Groom Time is now on loan to WRL stud managers, Wayne and Karen Stewart and in foal to Raise The Flag. Groom Thee is out of The Fantasia, a Noble Bijou-The Fantasy mare who won four races.
The Wilsons have a weanling half brother by Raise The Flag to Madam Victoria.
