Progeny of Gallant Guru winning for prominent Australian trainer
Prominent Ballarat trainer Darren Weir won two races at the weekend (23-24/4/2016) with progeny of White Robe Lodge stallion Gallant Guru. The winners Doctor Care and Accreditation were both bred by Brian and Lorraine Anderton and are both out of mares by Personal Escort. Doctor Care won the $A90,000 Beck Property Group Plate, an open 2000m at Caulfield on Saturday. It was the sixth win for Doctor Care was a $12,000 purchase by John Foote Bloodstock as a 2yr-old at the 2012 New Zealand Bloodstock South Island Sale. Doctor Care is out of Clear As A Bell (ex Auditory).
Accreditation cleared maiden ranks at Bendigo on Sunday after finishing fourth in his other start. He is a 3yr-old out of Pernote (ex Sound Note). Weir paid $20,000 for Accreditation at the 2014 South Island Yearling sale. He was back to buy a half-brother by Raise The Flag to Accreditation for $32,500 at the SI sale this month.
Raise The Flag, companion sire for Gallant Guru at WRL, sired Tommyra, who won a $22,500 rating 75 1600m race at Riccarton on Saturday. It was the third win in 10 starts for Tommyra, a 4yr-old raced by breeder Doug Robb from the Ashburton stable of Daniel Champion and Kezia Murphy. Tommyra is the last of four foals left by Hippo Priscilla, a Blues Traveller mare.
