Sales Yearling Snapped Up
By Jonny Turner
It was mission accomplished for White Robe Lodge at the Karaka Yearling Sales after when each member of its 2021 draft went to a good home last week.
The 100% clearance rate was headed by the $120,000 sale of an Almanzor filly from Yamanin Vital mare Swelter.
Studmaster Wayne Stewart was delighted that the yearling was headed to leading Melbourne trainer Danny O’Brien.
“It is a good result to have her going to Danny O’Brien’s stable.”
“He is one of the top trainers in Melbourne and she will get every opportunity there.”
Lot 161 is from a full sister to classy White Robe Lodge performer Inferno, in Swelter.
Stewart described the filly a beautiful, well-balanced type.
“She is just a lovely filly, she is really well balanced, she is just a beautiful type of horse.”
White Robe Lodge’s sale got underway when yet another of the descendants of grand producing Yamanin Vital mare Ears Carol went through the ring.
A strapping brown colt by War Decree from a half-brother to former star stayer Who Shot Thebarman in Serve De Aunt went through as lot 100.
The colt was sold to the bid of bloodstock agent Paul Willets for the bid of $40,000.
The result was a positive one for White Robe Lodge.
“He is going to go to Chrissie Bambry’s stable, she is doing a great job so he should get every chance there.”
“He is a lovely strong colt and you would think he would develop into a nice horse.”
The final White Robe Lodge draft member to go through the Karaka ring was an Ocean Park colt from Pins mare Thimble.
The sharp-looking type went to the bid of Victorian trainer Daniel Bowman for $35,000.
With another year at Karaka completed, the main focus at White Robe Lodge turns to Champions Day at Wingatui and the chance to seal a win in the White Robe Lodge Weight-For-Age.
