Gallant Guru outstanding value this spring

A powerful display from All Ashore and the recent wins of Goldn’guru and Champagne Friday have served up a timely reminder that Gallant Guru’s still got it.

All Ashore (Gallant Guru-Leeward Prevails-Justice Previals) was posted wide throughout her 1200m maiden assignment at Wingatui but shrugged off doing a power of mid race work to score for breeder-owner Lorraine Anderton.

The win continued a remarkable run of success Mrs Anderton has enjoyed with All Shore’s family.

The five-year-old is a fifth generation winner for the White Robe Lodge principal, with her pedigree spanning back to seven-win mare Valraine.

Mrs Anderton and good friend the late Val Christophers bred and raced the talented race mare.

All Ashore’s maternal line includes multiple stakes-race winner Double D’Or, who became the first winner sired by the champion White Robe Lodge stallion Noble Bijou.

The family also includes eight-race winners Anquilla and D’Or Us.

Gallant Guru had just three runners on the Wingatui card.

The sire produced Sadler’s Lass (Gallant Guru-Blessed Thee-Star Way) who scored over 1600m, Uphold (Gallant Guru-Sustain-Danzighill) who ran second over 1200m, as well as maiden winner All Ashore (Gallant Guru-Leeward Prevails-Justice Prevails).

At Gore last week, Gold'nguru (Gallant Guru-Itjustgot Personal-Personal Escort) showed his class when posting his ninth career win, in open company, over 1800m.

The 10-year-old has now won races in six of his seven seasons of racing and has banked more than $100,000.

On the same day, Champagne Friday (Gallant Guru-Emerald Fire-Honor Grades) also scored over 1800m in Victoria taking her career earnings past $100,000.

Gallant Guru is standing his 15th season at stud this spring.

Considering the long line of stakes winners the stallion has produced, he represents outstanding value with his stud fee set at just $2000 this season.

“He doesn’t have a heap of runners going round but he keeps producing winners,” Brian Anderton said.

“He has been a great stallion over the years and he has left a lot of stakes winners.”

“We have set his stud fee at $2000 which we think is pretty reasonable for a stallion that has had the success he has had.”

Gallant Guru has made an incredible mark at White Robe Lodge following the completion of his racetrack career which featured multiple stakes race wins and more than $A700,000 in earnings.

Headed by Group 1 Metropolitan winner Patrick Erin, Gallant Guru’s winner’s list includes multiple stakes winners Coulee, Tommy Tucker, Gallant Goy and Include, as well as New Zealand, Australian and Hong Kong winner Heroic Guru.
