About Us

Established in 1956, the proven thoroughbred nursery, White Robe Lodge, has 660 acres in total. The main farm is situated at the northern end of the Taieri Plains and enjoys a unique climate, sheltered by the surrounding hills to the North and East. The middle farm, Ardgowan, lies 5 km to the west. Our wintering farm is in Middlemarch and has proven to be a valuable asset to our operation.

We are a family orientated business and our Breeding and Training operations are run by family members.  Founder Brian Anderton is a long time servant of the New Zealand Thoroughbred Industry.   He received a New Zealand award for outstanding contribution to racing excellence in 1993 and he was inducted to the New Zealand Racing Hall of Fame in 2012.

In it's time, White Robe Lodge stood two Australasian champion sires, Mellay and Noble Bijou. The names of these two sires lives on in their daughters, who have continued to produce top class racehorses.  Noble Bijou is the only sire in the history of New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeding to have won both the general and broodmare sires list in the same year.

After 60 years in the thoroughbred business, White Robe Lodge continues to produce top class racehorses.
